Aubany's newest, 'Sheer Mess', unravels the story within

Aubany continues to carve out a space that’s intimate, emotionally charged, and unmistakably her own. Her third single ‘Sheer Mess’ is testament to this; a self-portrait of vulnerability and tentative hope.
‘Sheer Mess’ continues the storyline of Aubany’s sophomore single ‘Hallow’ (2025), in which she explores the push and pull of yearning for, yet fearing connection. “It’s written about the risk of starting a relationship, and the giddy feeling in the possibility that it may be perfect this time,” she explains.
‘Sheer Mess’ expands Aubany’s sonic identity. Having moved out of home, and with little access to a piano, her third single was composed on guitar. “I was restricted to the simple chords I could play,” she says.
Between the three singles now, it feels like there's an overarching story that's happening in the background centered around connection and desire for companionship.
For sure. I think naturally because I write so heavily about love and emotions relating to my life, the story of my own relationships I guess will naturally form. The order in which my songs have been coming out are also a choice that I have made, and in time will tell the story of growing up and navigating relationships throughout.
How are we celebrating yet another huge release? Is there a launch show or music video coming?
The song comes out on my birthday! Funnily enough, the best way to celebrate turning 23. I’ll be celebrating this mostly with my friends and some exciting assets that will be revealed in time.
'Sheer Mess' marks your third single out from the 29th of August - are we building for a huge release in the works?
‘Sheer Mess’ is a page turner for sure. Sonically, a new side to my style as well as the first piece of a very exciting project I’ve been working on this year that will be revealed over the next 6 months.
